Electroplated diamond products are usually made from steel as the substrate and coated with a layer of nickel or nickel based alloy as a bonding agent through electroplating. Diamond abrasives are embedded in the coating, and the bonding metal is deposited on the substrate by electrocrystallization from the solution.
Common electroplated diamond products include grinding heads, grinding rods, reamers, cutting knives, inner and outer cutting blades, various machine and manual files, and trimming rollers. These products are commonly used for grinding small holes and special surfaces, nesting, and cutting semiconductor materials. Electroplated geological drill bits and reamers, electroplating grinding wheels with intermittent working surfaces, mesh soft grinding tools, various electroplating grinding wheels (flat, cup, formed grinding wheels, centerless grinding wheels), electroplating honing oilstones, sand belts, row saws, wire saws, etc. are also widely used.
The manufacturing process of electroplated diamond products generally includes the following aspects: selection and surface treatment of diamonds, regulations of electroplating specifications, preparation of electroplating solution, substrate mechanical processing and surface treatment before plating, plating, inspection of packaging, etc.
The diamond used should generally be of high strength varieties with equal shape, and the diamond should undergo purification and hydrophilicity treatment before use. The particle size of diamond directly affects processing efficiency, surface smoothness, and diamond consumption. On the premise of meeting the requirements for smoothness, coarse grain size should be selected as much as possible to improve efficiency. In general grinding, the particle size range selected for diamond grinding tools is as follows:

Electroplating solution can be used for a long time, and maintenance and adjustment are only necessary. After a period of use, the solution needs to be purified to remove impurities, ions, and oil stains, and its composition should be tested and adjusted. The steel substrate is pre processed, and the processing accuracy and surface finish are determined according to the usage requirements. Sharp edges should be chamfered to ensure bonding strength.
