Rubber Diamond Wire Saw Structure and Composition
A standard rubber diamond wire saw typically consists of the following parts from the inside out:
- Core steel wire rope: provides overall tensile strength and toughness, and can withstand enormous tension and pulling force. It is usually made by twisting multiple strands of high-strength steel wire.
- Diamond bead: This is the "tooth" and core working component of the rope saw. It is a cylindrical body made by mixing artificial diamond particles with metal powders (such as cobalt, tungsten, etc.) and sintering them on a steel sleeve through powder metallurgy technology. The beads are fixed at a certain spacing (such as 10-40 per meter).
- Rubber (or polyurethane) lining: This is the origin of the name "rubber". A layer of elastic rubber/polyurethane material is wrapped between the steel wire rope and diamond beads, as well as between beads. Its role is crucial:
○ Buffer and shock absorption: Absorb the impact and vibration during cutting, protect the steel wire rope, and make the operation smoother.
○ Fixed bead: Hold the bead firmly to prevent it from sliding or rotating.
○ Heat dissipation: helps to disperse some of the heat generated by cutting.
○ Provide chip removal channel: The rubber protrusions between the beads form a channel for cooling water flow, which helps to remove cutting debris.
- Joint: Used to connect the rope saw into a closed loop for cyclic operation on the machine. The strength and reliability of the joint are crucial.
