The efficiency and lifespan of diamond tools depend not only on the firmness of the diamond abrasive particles embedded, but also on the wear resistance of the matrix. The strength of the matrix itself, the distribution status of diamonds in the matrix, and the concentration of diamonds can all affect the wear resistance of the matrix. Therefore, how to achieve the ideal state of the matrix is also a noteworthy issue in future work

 

Brazing technology can achieve chemical metallurgical bonding between diamond, bonding agent (brazing alloy material), and metal matrix interface, with high bonding strength. Due to the high bonding strength at the interface, only a very thin thickness of the bonding agent is needed to firmly hold the abrasive particles. Its exposed height can reach 70% to 80%, making the use of abrasive more fully, greatly improving the tool's lifespan and processing efficiency. Compared with traditional technology, the maximum allowable cutting edge value of diamond tools can be increased by more than 50%, and the diamond consumption per unit volume of the workpiece material can be reduced by more than half without increasing or decreasing the power consumption of the tool.
