HTC EZ Change Series

Split PCD HTC Diamond Grinding Shoes

Built around the HTC EZ Change plate, this trapezoid shoe carries broken PCD abrasive particles inside the tool head. That construction turns a walk-behind grinder into a coating stripper rather than a surface refiner - it bites through epoxy, urethane and adhesive layers that a metal bond diamond tool tends to ride over.

Why PCD

It Bites Where Diamond Tools Slide

Diamond tools remove material by wearing it away. On a hard, brittle floor that works perfectly. On a soft, sticky layer it does not - the tool skates, the surface smears, and the segment clogs with the material it is supposed to be lifting.

Polycrystalline instead of sintered

PCD presents a continuous cutting edge rather than a field of separate grit particles. It slices the coating away and keeps slicing as it wears, because the broken particles run right through the tool head.

Coating comes off clean

Epoxy, urethane and adhesive layers up to roughly 1–3 mm lift off instead of balling up under the shoe. The pass leaves a workable concrete surface behind it.

Two split segments

The cutting face is divided, so removed material has an escape route. Swarf clears, the shoe runs cooler, and the cut stays consistent across the width of the machine.

Position In The Sequence

What It Replaces On The Rack

Most contractors reach for a coarse metal bond block when a floor needs opening up. This shoe covers that job and several cases the block cannot handle.

Against a coarse metal bond tool

A metal bond block in the 6/8 grit range removes concrete well, but it struggles the moment there is anything elastic on the surface. It also wears down steadily across the life of the job. The split PCD shoe holds its cutting ability far longer, which usually makes it the cheaper option once the area gets large.

Where it earns the switch

Any floor where the material to be removed is softer than the floor beneath it - coatings, adhesives, paint systems, rubber-backed overlays. The harder the substrate relative to the layer on top, the more clearly the PCD shoe wins.

What comes after

This is the opening stage, not the finishing one. Once the coating is gone and the slab is level, the sequence moves to finer diamond tooling to build the finish. Plan both stages together.

Where it is not the answer

Bare concrete that only needs refining, or a floor being brought up to a polish. In those cases the PCD segment is doing unnecessary work, and a standard diamond shoe is more efficient.

Applications

Floors This Shoe Is Built For

The substrate is usually concrete, stone or terrazzo. What decides whether this shoe is the right pick is the layer sitting on top of it.

Epoxy and resin systems

Taking out epoxy floor coatings, including multi-coat build-ups, and getting back to bare slab.

Paint and protective films

Stripping paint, varnish and similar decorative or protective layers ahead of a new floor system.

Adhesive and glue residue

Old tile adhesive, carpet glue and mastic that would smear or wrap around a diamond segment.

Urethane and soft toppings

Urethane coatings and other elastic overlays that resist abrasion-based removal.

Ends up on commercial and industrial floors mostly - warehouses, production halls, parking decks and retail interiors - worked on a walk-behind grinder with an EZ Change plate.

Selection

Choosing Between the Single and Double Segment

Both versions use the same shoe body and the same EZ Change fitment. The difference is how much cutting face you put on the floor.

1

Single segment

One 40 × 10 × 10 mm split PCD segment. Lighter load on the machine, easier to steer on uneven slabs, and a sensible starting point when you are not sure how the floor will behave.

2

Double segment

Two segments on the same body. More cutting points in contact at once, which pays off on large open areas and on coatings that are well bonded to the slab.

3

Matching the machine

Confirm the grinder takes the EZ Change plate before ordering. If your holder uses a different system, tell us which one and we will point you at the right shoe.

Using Tips

Working With the Shoe On Site

Four points that cover most of what goes wrong on the first run.

  • ✓Run it at the machine's own weight. The PCD segment does not need you leaning on the handle - extra pressure shortens its life without removing more coating.
  • ✓Check the fit before you start the machine. The shoe should sit fully seated in the EZ Change plate with no movement.
  • ✓Re-check the mounting after the first pass. Vibration on a large floor can work a plate loose, so confirm it is still solid before continuing.
  • ✓Wear personal protection throughout - eye protection, hearing protection and a dust mask at minimum, whichever way you run the machine.
Customization

Making It Your Own Product

Since 2006 Huice Tools has produced diamond tooling in-house and built up private-label programmes for brands across several markets. This shoe slots into that same arrangement.

Shell colour

Match it to a paint chip, a Pantone number or an existing sample from your range. The shoe then reads as part of your line rather than a generic import.

Back-face logo

Branding is applied to the reverse of the body. Send vector artwork or a clear print file and we will come back with a placement mock-up for sign-off.

Segment configuration

Tell us what you are removing and how large the floors run, and we can advise whether one segment or two suits the job better.

Outer packaging

Foam-lined cartons are the default. Coloured cartons, adhesive labels and stencilled shipping marks are all available if your customers expect them.

What to Send Us for a Straight Answer

Coating removal does not have a single right answer. Give us the picture below and the reply will be a matched configuration instead of a list of options.

  • ✓What the slab is, and what shape it is in
  • ✓Which coating is on it, and roughly how deep
  • ✓Machine make and model
  • ✓Your holder system, if it is not standard EZ Change
  • ✓How you currently approach the job
  • ✓The surface quality you need to reach
  • ✓How many you want for trial, and likely volume after
  • ✓Where the goods are headed, and any marking requirements
Order Process

From Sample to Repeat Order

Get the trial right and the repeat order runs itself. These are the four points where we hold the process together.

Review before tooling

Segment count, fitment and volume are checked against your floor and machine while the order can still be changed cheaply.

In-house output

The shoe is made at our own plant in Quanzhou rather than bought in, so specification changes do not wait on a third party.

Inspection

Each batch is checked for how the segment is bonded and whether the body seats correctly in the plate.

Dispatch

Counts, labels and carton marks are verified before the goods leave, and we can send photographs along the way.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the standard split PCD grinding shoe?

The cutting head works the same way. The difference is the fitment: this version is built for the HTC EZ Change plate, while our standard split PCD shoe is offered with M6*3 holes for SASE machines, 9mm*3 for magnetic plates and a 6-hole Blastrac pattern.

Should I order the single segment or the double segment version?

Single segment is the safer choice while you are still learning how a particular floor behaves, and it is easier to control on an uneven slab. Double segment covers more ground per pass, so it suits large open areas and firmly bonded coatings.

Is this a finishing tool?

No. It is the opening stage of a sequence - removal and leveling. Once the coating is off and the slab is flat, the job moves to finer diamond tooling to develop the surface.

How thick a coating can it handle?

Epoxy and urethane layers in the region of 1–3 mm come off without trouble. Much thicker build-ups may need more than one pass rather than more downward pressure.

Do I need to push down on the machine?

No. Let the machine's own weight do the work. Adding pressure does not lift more coating; it just wears the PCD segment out faster.

Will it fit my grinder?

It fits machines running the HTC EZ Change plate. If your grinder uses Redi Lock, quick change or another holder system, tell us which and we will match you to the correct shoe from the range.

Do you offer OEM and ODM service?

Yes. Colour, logo, segment build and packing can all be customized, and the MOQ for a bulk order follows the level of customization involved.

What is the minimum order quantity?

One set, so you can test the shoe on your own floor before committing to a larger order.

Stripping a coating and not sure where to start?

Tell us what is on the floor, which grinder you run and the finish you are aiming for. We will come back with the configuration and a quote.
