Three types of coating detachment of electroplated diamond tools

During the use of electroplated diamond tools, due to the grinding force, temperature rise, impact of the workpiece and other reasons, the metal coating containing diamond will be separated from the steel substrate, which is the coating falling off. The coating peeling off is generally local, and the phenomenon of coating peeling off at one time is rare.

The diamond coating falls off to the substrate surface: that is, the metal coating containing diamond and the metal bottom coating without diamond are separated from the steel substrate at the same time.

The layer falls off to the metal bottom coating: that is, the metal bottom coating without diamond is not separated from the steel substrate, but the metal coating with diamond is separated from the metal bottom coating.

Layer separation of the metal coating in the metal coating containing diamond: during the use of the metal coating containing diamond, the coating metal in contact with the workpiece is not normally worn, but is abnormally flaked or powdery, and the diamond is not completely detached, but partially granular. This phenomenon is not easy to attract attention, and the result is that the product has a short service life, which often gives a false impression of poor holding power or wear resistance of the coated metal. Excluding factors such as burnt coating and poor wear resistance of coating metal during thickening, when the tool is in normal use, the diamond particles fall off intuitively as there are continuous large holes on the tool surface, which should be the fall off of such coating
