Sintered diamond saw blades, brazed diamond saw blades and electroplated diamond saw blades are three common types of diamond saw blades used in various industries. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages as follows.
Sintered diamond saw blades are made by using a press to mold diamond powder and metal powder together into a saw blade shape. Then, through high temperature and high pressure sintering, the diamond and metal powders are chemically bonded into a solid diamond saw blade. The advantages of sintered diamond saw blades are:
1. High cutting efficiency: Sintered diamond saw blades have a higher diamond concentration than other types of diamond saw blades, which makes them cut faster and more smoothly.
2. Long lifespan: The chemical bond between diamond particles and metal powders in sintered saw blades makes them more wear-resistant and durable, and can be used for a long time.
3. Wide application: Sintered diamond saw blades are widely used in the construction industry and other fields, such as the cutting of concrete, asphalt, stone, ceramics, and other hard materials.
However, there are also some disadvantages to sintered diamond saw blades, such as:
1. Cost: Sintered diamond saw blades are more expensive than other types of diamond saw blades.
2. Limited sizes: The maximum diameter of sintered saw blades is less than 900mm.
Brazed diamond saw blades, also called diamond brazed saw blades, are made by brazing diamond segments onto the steel core using silver solder or other metal alloys. The advantages of brazed diamond saw blades are:
1. High sharpness: Diamond brazed saw blades have a sharper cutting edge than sintered saw blades, which makes them more suitable for cutting hard materials.
2. Different segment designs available: The segmented design of the diamond brazed saw blades allows for various shapes and sizes, making them suitable for cutting different types of materials.
3. Cost-effective: Brazed diamond saw blades are less expensive than sintered saw blades but have similar cutting efficiency.
However, the disadvantages of brazed diamond saw blades are:
1. Short lifespan: The bonding strength between the diamond segments and the steel core is not as good as sintered saw blades, resulting in a short lifespan.
2. Medium range sizes available: Similar to the sintered saw blade, brazed diamond saw blades have a limited maximum diameter of about 1200mm.
Electroplated diamond saw blades, commonly used in the gemstone industry, are made by electroplating diamond particles onto the steel core with a nickel plating process. The advantages of electroplated diamond saw blades include:
1. High precision: The electroplated diamond saw blades have a high degree of accuracy, making them suitable for cutting small and precise workpieces.
2. Lower cost: The manufacturing process of electroplated saw blades is relatively simple and low in cost, making them more affordable.
3. Wide range of sizes: electroplated diamond saw blades are available in various sizes and are not limited by a maximum diameter like the other two types of diamond saw blades.
However, some drawbacks of electroplated diamond saw blades are:
1. Short lifespan: The bonding strength between the diamond particles and the steel core is not strong, resulting in a shorter lifespan than sintered and brazed diamond saw blades.
2. Low cutting efficiency: The diamond concentration of electroplated saw blades is generally lower than other types of diamond saw blades, making them less efficient for the cutting of harder materials.
In conclusion, all three types of diamond saw blades have their own advantages and disadvantages, and their selection depends on specific cutting requirements. Sintered diamond saw blades are suitable for cutting hard materials with a high degree of accuracy and a long lifespan, while brazed diamond saw blades are more cost-effective and suitable for cutting harder materials. Electroplated diamond saw blades are suitable for cutting small and precise materials with a relatively low cost, but have a shorter lifespan and lower cutting efficiency.
