How many types of diamond tools are there?

 

In terms of processing methods, diamond tools can generally be categorized into three main groups: cutting, grinding, and drilling.

In terms of their applications, the list is probably endless. Based on my current understanding of diamond tools, I can categorize them into the following categories:

  • 1. Abrasive tools: These include diamond grinding wheels, abrasive tiles, honing stones, shaped grinding heads, diamond abrasive belts, fine grinding pellets, and abrasive pastes, primarily used for grinding and polishing various materials.
  • 2. Sawing tools: These include circular saw blades, gang saws, wire saws, tubular saws, band saws, chain saws, wire saws, and ring saw blades, used for cutting materials such as stone, concrete, and metal.
  • 3. Drilling tools: These include geological and metallurgical drill bits, oil and gas well drill bits, engineering thin-wall drill bits, stone drill bits, glass drill bits, and core drill bits, used for drilling in geological exploration, oil extraction, and construction. 4. Cutting Tools: Turning tools, boring tools, milling cutters, etc. made from diamond polycrystalline composites or large natural single crystals are used for finishing non-ferrous metal parts in automobiles, aircraft, and precision machinery, as well as non-metallic materials such as plastics and ceramics.
  • 5. Dressing Tools: Forming and dressing rollers, correction pens, dressing blocks, engraving pens, etc. are used to dress abrasive tools and maintain them in good working condition.
  • 6. Wire Drawing Dies: Drawing dies made from diamond polycrystalline are used to draw various metal filaments such as wire, filament, and screen wire.
  • 7. Diamond Drilling Tools for Machine Tools: Primarily used for drilling various materials (such as metals, ceramics, glass, and composite materials) on machine tools. Examples include diamond twist drills, diamond trepanning drills, diamond deep-hole drills, and diamond reamers.
  • 8. Other Tools: These tools include scribers, glass cutters, engraving knives, trepanning knives, assorted files, measuring probes, bearings, styluses, and diamond scalpels, with specific uses and functions.

Diamond tools can also be categorized by application industry, for example:

  • 1. Construction and Civil Engineering: Used for cutting, grinding, and drilling concrete, stone, and other building materials.
  • 2. Stone Processing: Used for sawing, grinding, and polishing stone to create various stone products.
  • 3. Ceramic Processing: Used for edge trimming, sawing, grinding, and polishing ceramics, as well as for ceramic production and subsequent processing. This also includes the production and processing of other new building materials.
  • 4. Automotive: Used for processing automotive parts such as engine blocks and transmission housings.
  • 5. Machining: Used for cutting and grinding metal parts to improve processing accuracy and efficiency.
  • 6. Electronics: Used for processing electronic materials such as semiconductors and optical glass, and for manufacturing electronic products such as chips and display screens.
  • 7. Geological Exploration and Mining: Used for geological drilling, mineral extraction, and drilling into various hard rock formations.
