1. Diamond Wire Saw is a Flexible Cutting Tool
- Diamond wire saws are "flexible" cutting tools, representing a higher level of sawing technology. This "flexible" cutting characteristic not only allows for unrestricted sawing size and location but also enables the easy cutting of various irregular shapes. This allows wire saws to perform not only the tasks of other diamond sawing tools but also those that are difficult or impossible for other diamond tools. Furthermore, they are characterized by low noise, minimal material waste, and low environmental pollution, making them widely used in stone and reinforced concrete cutting.
2. Diamond wire saw supporting steel wire rope
- The support wire rope of a diamond wire saw plays a crucial role in transmitting power and providing cutting force during the saw's operation. The main factor causing failure of the support wire rope is insufficient bending fatigue strength. Wire ropes for wire saws differ from those for other applications; they require not only high tensile strength but also high bending fatigue strength.
3. Rubber for diamond wire saw
- There are many indicators characterizing the quality stability of rubber, the most commonly used being tensile strength and elongation at break. Tensile strength refers to the maximum tensile stress during the tensile fracture process of a rubber sample. Elongation at break refers to the ratio of the elongated portion to the original length when the rubber sample breaks, expressed as a percentage (%).
- Higher tensile strength of the rubber results in higher fixing strength between the beads and the supporting wire rope, making the beads less prone to loosening during wire saw use.
- For the same rubber formulation, elongation at break is also correlated with fatigue strength. A higher elongation at break indicates better rubber toughness and higher fatigue strength, making the rubber less prone to cracking during wire saw use. An increase in either tensile strength or elongation at break will inevitably lead to a decrease in the other. For rubber used in wire saws, both tensile strength and elongation at break are required to be high, which places higher demands on the design and production stability of the rubber.
Diamond parameters for diamond wire saws
- There are many indicators characterizing diamond quality, with diamond strength being the most widely used. Diamond strength testing methods are divided into two types based on the nature of the load: static load and dynamic load.
- Diamonds primarily withstand impact forces during operation, and the temperature at the contact point with the material being cut is very high. Therefore, the thermal shock strength of diamonds used in wire saws is also a crucial indicator to monitor. Combining single-particle static compressive strength and group impact strength provides a better reflection of diamond quality stability.
Metal powder specifications for diamond wire saws
- The quality of metal powder is a crucial factor determining the performance of finished metal-bonded diamond tools. Various indicators characterize the stability of metal powder quality, among which oxygen content and particle size directly determine a range of performance indicators, including the diamond holding power of the diamond matrix and the wear resistance of the matrix. However, the oxygen content of the powder has the most significant impact on the function of diamond tools.
- Higher oxygen content in the metal powder results in poorer alloying of the sintered bead matrix, leading to poorer overall mechanical properties and weaker mechanical holding power for the diamond. When the oxygen content of the metal powder exceeds a certain value, it will significantly reduce the lifespan of wire saws. Wire saw bead manufacturers must strictly control the oxygen content of the metal powder.
