Wuhai City Establishes An Annual Output Of 3 Million Carats Of Diamond Project

Carbon based Core Material Technology (Wuhai) Co., Ltd. was established in July 2024. Its microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition (MPCVD) diamond project has a total investment of about 5 billion yuan, and the construction mainly includes comprehensive offices, factories, warehouses, etc. It plans to install 1000 MPCVD crystal growing equipment, 400 laser cutting machines and supporting production lines. Construction will start in September 2024.
"Wuhai City is a prefecture level city under the jurisdiction of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. It borders Ordos across Gander Mountain in the northeast, faces Shizuishan City across the river in the south, and is adjacent to Alxa League in the west. Located deep in the mainland, it belongs to a typical temperate continental climate with a total area of 1754 square kilometers. The city has three districts under its jurisdiction, and as of the end of 2024, the city's permanent resident population is 557300."

At present, the comprehensive office building of the project has been fully capped, and the foundation construction of 5 factories has been completed. Steel structure construction is about to begin. According to the plan, the main structure and decoration construction of the project are expected to be completed in early July, equipment debugging is expected to be completed in early August, and the first batch of equipment is expected to be officially put into operation in mid August, "said Lv Yanbin, Chairman of Carbon based Core Technology (Wuhai) Co., Ltd. to reporters.

MPCVD diamond crystals have high integrity, no residual metal catalysts, and impurity concentrations can be as low as ppb (parts per billion). It can also achieve controllable doping to change the color of diamond. MPCVD diamond is widely used in fields such as acoustics, optics, thermodynamics, mechanics, electronics, quantum technology, jewelry, etc. It is an indispensable material for surface acoustic wave devices, laser windows, space detector protective covers, high-frequency and high-power electronic devices, central processing units and graphics processor heat dissipation substrates, high-energy particle detectors, fourth generation semiconductors, quantum computers, etc. It has broad application prospects and market potential.
After the project is completed and fully put into operation, it will produce 3 million carats (600 kilograms) of diamonds annually, with an annual output value of about 4 billion yuan, and provide more than 100 job opportunities.
