Frankfurt Grinding Block for Concrete with 5 or 6 Split PCD Segments
A horseshoe shaped(Frankfurt-style) grinding block for concrete, built on a metal base with 5 or 6 wear-resistant segments carrying crushed PCD diamonds. It is made for surface preparation - stripping the top layer before a new floor goes down.
A key feature of this tool is its ability to effectively remove "cement laitance" (the weak, brittle surface layer of concrete).
This segment is also suitable for removing polymer floor coatings, epoxy resins, adhesives, and paint, making it an indispensable tool for renovation and construction projects.
The tool is equipped with 5 or 6 rectangular segments (measuring 40 x 10 x 10 mm/40*12*12/40*8*8) containing crushed PCD (polycrystalline diamond) crystals with a grit size of 2–4 mm. This ensures high productivity, operational efficiency, and a long service life.
Overall, the HuiceTools PCD concrete grinding segment is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a reliable and efficient tool for processing concrete surfaces.

What This Tool Is
01
A Frankfurt Block, Made For Preparation
Diamond Frankfurt with split pcd for concrete is a professional tool for grinding concrete on Splitstone grinding and polishing machines (Splitstone GM). It sits on the machine as a consumable, so the quality of the block decides both how fast the floor is ready and what the job costs per square metre.
The block is a metal backing with diamond segments soldered or welded onto it. The segments themselves are an iron bond and diamond, sintered together at high temperature.
Built on a metal base
A rigid metal backing carries the segments. The base is what holds the geometry of the block against the pressure of a floor grinder.
Segments soldered or welded on
Each segment is joined to the backing by soldering or welding. That joint has to survive the load of tearing coating off a slab.
Iron bond, sintered
Inside the segment, an iron bond holds the diamonds. The mix is sintered at high temperature, so the bond and the diamond become one body.
Key Feature
02
It Removes Cement Laitance
A poured slab does not cure evenly. The top of it is a weak, brittle skin of fine cement and fines that never bound into the body of the concrete. That skin is what is meant by cement laitance, and it is the single thing standing between a sound slab and a floor finish that will stay down.
A key feature of this tool is its ability to effectively remove cement laitance (the weak, brittle surface layer of concrete).
It is also the tool for leveling out significant irregularities left by poor-quality concrete placement, and for taking off polymer floor coatings, epoxy resins, adhesives and paint. That combination is what makes it an indispensable tool for renovation and construction projects.
What has to come off firstCoating on top, the weak laitance skin below it, sound concrete underneath.
How It Cuts
03
Tearing And Scraping, Not Grinding
Compared with diamond segments in a standard metal bond, these PCD segments work by a tearing / scraping mechanism. The diamonds are not dressed into a fine abrasive face - they bite into the coating and pull it apart.
That difference matters for one practical reason. A standard metal bond grinds the coating, the friction raises temperature, and the coating melts and adheres onto the disc. Once that happens the wheel is glazed, it stops cutting, and the operator has to stop and clean it. PCD does not work that way, so that failure does not happen.
What PCD does
Crushed polycrystalline diamond crystals bite and shear the coating away from the slab. The material comes off in fragments instead of being rubbed down into dust.
What a metal bond does
Diamond in a standard metal bond grinds rather than tears. On soft, gummy coatings the heat builds, the coating softens, and the disc loads up.
Why it changes the job
No glazing means fewer stops to clean the plate, a steady removal rate across the floor, and a tool that keeps working on the coatings that stall a normal disc.
Tearing compared with grindingThe same coating, two mechanisms - and only one of them clogs.
Selecting The Bond
04
Match The Bond To The Concrete
The bond of a diamond segment is chosen against the type of work and the concrete strength grade. Read the table from the floor, not from the tool: a hard, dense slab is ground with soft bond, and a soft, fragile slab is ground with hard bond. A hard bond on a hard floor would polish over and stop cutting; a soft bond on a soft floor would shed its diamonds before they have done any work.
SOFT FLOOR - hard bond / HBSoft, fragile concrete of strength grades less than M250, M100.
MEDIUM FLOOR - medium bond / MBConcrete of medium strength grades from M250, M300, M350, M400.
HARD FLOOR - soft bond / SBHard, durable concrete of strength grades from M400 to M600.
VERY HARD FLOOR - soft bond / SBHard, durable concrete of strength grades greater than M600.
Using Frankfurt concrete grinders ensures high speed and quality of concrete grinding, as well as a long service life, thanks to the use of high-quality materials and technologies.
On the machineThe block mounts to a Splitstone GM grinding and polishing machine.
Specification
Two sets of numbers are quoted for this tool, and they measure different things: the overall dimensions describes the block as a whole and how it sits on the machine, while the segment size describes each individual segment. Both are shown together.

Where It Works
This block is built for the aggressive removal of the top layer of concrete and for leveling out significant irregularities that come from poor-quality concrete placement. It is used on the surfaces below, and on the materials listed next to them.
Concrete and cement laitance
Taking off the weak surface layer before a coating, screed or topping goes down.
Polymer floor coatings
Polymer floor coatings and epoxy resins, taken back to a sound substrate.
Adhesives and paint
Adhesives, paint and other bonded layers left behind by an earlier floor.
Renovation work
Leveling the irregularities that poor placement leaves, before the new floor is laid.
Ordering
Tell us four things and we can quote this block against your floor and your machine.
The floor
What the slab is, its approximate strength grade, and what is on top of it - epoxy, paint, adhesive or bare concrete.
The machine
The grinder model, so we confirm the block suits your plate and your working width.
The bond
Which floor class you are working in - soft, medium, hard or very hard - so the bond is matched to the slab.

Color and logo are customizable. Send the artwork if you want your own mark on the block.
FAQ
09
Questions We Get Asked
Why PCD and not a diamond segment?
Because the two cut differently. PCD tears and scrapes the coating off; diamond in a metal bond grinds it and can glaze when the material softens under heat.
Will it remove bare concrete?
It is designed to take off the top layer of concrete, level irregularities and strip the coating. Tell us what you are cutting and we will say whether a PCD block or a diamond block is the right starting point.
Which segment size do I need?
Three are available: 40 x 12 x 12 mm, 40 x 10 x 10 mm and 40 x 8 x 8 mm. The choice follows the work you are doing and the finish you want, not a fixed rule.
How many segments come on the block?
Five or six rectangular segments, all carrying crushed PCD with a grit of 2-4 mm.
What is the minimum order?
Two pieces. Color and logo are customizable, and the block is packed in cartons with foam.
