The brazing of diamond tools has formed a specialized type of work, consuming nearly 1000 tons of brazing material every year, with tens of thousands of employees in China. The development trend of diamond tools is as follows: automation, greening, process compounding, quality and economy.

Automation and greening are the basic concepts and important projects of manufacturing 2025 in China. The labor cost of diamond tool industry is increasing day by day, even endangering the development of the industry.

 

Automation brazing is the common demand of the industry. However, a large number of products are developing towards automatic brazing. At present, automatic brazing of saw blades is maturing day by day, and automatic brazing equipment for other products is coming out.

Green connotation includes reducing emissions, saving materials, improving energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

 

Diamond tool brazing develops rapidly in material reduction and energy saving, but it develops slowly in using cadmium-free solder, flux core solder and reducing solder consumption. Diamond tools (such as drills, picks, saw blades, cutting tools, etc.) are dissipative products, in which the filler metal will be lost along with the normal operation of the tools. Elements such as lead and cadmium in the filler metal will be scattered into the air, soil and water, polluting the environment, being partially absorbed into the human body and damaging human health.

Composite brazing process includes flame-induction, induction-furnace, furnace-induction-flame and other brazing methods, which can realize fast full-position brazing of complex and large-size tools, shorten brazing time, improve tool durability and reliability, and extend tool life.

Quality requires that the brazing joint has longer fatigue life, and the shortage in the brazing joint is the main factor affecting the fatigue life. Therefore, with the prolongation of the service life of super-hard tools, it is required to reduce the shortage in the brazing joint and improve the quality of the brazing joint. When the brazing material and process are appropriate, the cleanliness of the brazing filler metal is an important factor affecting the formation of defects.

Economy is the permanent demand of manufacturing industry. Low silver, copper, composite and prefabricated solders are the main direction to save the cost of solder. High efficiency and reliable brazing technology is another way to reduce brazing cost.
