How to polish marble?

Marble polishing is an important step in the maintenance of marble furniture and marble floors. Polished marble has a bright and vibrant color and provides an excellent decorative effect. So, how is marble polished?

 

 

1. Coarse Grinding:

Use 50#, 150#, 300#, and 500# diamond resin hard grinding blocks (do not use soft water grinding pads for coarse grinding, as this can easily cause waves and affect flatness). Use a slightly larger amount of water during coarse grinding, but remember not to use too much. After each grinding pad is used, thoroughly absorb the water and check whether the deep scratches left by the abrasive have been removed by the 50# grinding pad, and so on. The machine should move in a grid pattern during grinding. Coarse grinding accounts for 45% of the total grinding time and is a crucial step in ensuring the quality of the finished project.

 

2. Fine Grinding:

Use 800#, 1000#, and 2000# diamond resin soft water grinding pads. Fine grinding accounts for 35% of the total grinding time. After grinding with 800#, initial gloss will appear; after grinding with 2000#, the gloss can reach 50 degrees.

 

3. Fine Polishing:

Use a 3000# diamond resin soft water grinding pad, spray with A2 abrasive, and perform ion exchange. Fine polishing accounts for 20% of the total grinding time. After fine polishing, the gloss is significantly improved, and the surface density of the marble is increased, laying a solid foundation for the polishing agent (NO2 Q5 mirror repair agent) and enhancing the adhesion of the polishing material.

 

4. Polishing:

Use a crystal surface machine with a power of 2HP or more, a rotation speed of 175-210 revolutions per minute, and a weight of 45-70 kg, along with a polishing pad containing 70% animal hair, a 3M pad, and a nano pad. Use in conjunction with marble mirror surface repair cream NO2 and 2X mirror lock brightening emulsion Q5 for polishing and grinding. After polishing, the surface gloss of the marble can reach at least 90-100 degrees or more.

 

5. For stones that are difficult to achieve a high-gloss finish, such as Carrara marble or resin-based artificial stone, if the above methods still don't produce a sufficiently glossy surface, then spray A2 again and polish with a 3000# grit abrasive until dry. Then, repeat the polishing process using a nano-pad, combined with marble mirror-finish restoration cream NO2 and 2X mirror-finish locking emulsion Q5. The nano-inorganic polymer copolymer will form a crystalline layer, resulting in a glassy, ​​high-gloss finish. This provides high hardness, wear resistance, transparency, water resistance, stain resistance, and anti-slip properties.

 

 

The area treated with crystallizing agent should be limited to 2 square meters at a time, and the polishing should be done gradually, meter by meter, and stopped at the appropriate time. When the crystallizing agent is completely polished dry by the floor polishing machine, and the stone surface exhibits a glass-like shine, the machine should be stopped immediately. Otherwise, the gloss will be damaged by the heat generated from excessive friction, resulting in a counterproductive effect, especially with white marble.
