Single-layer high-temperature brazed superhard abrasive grinding wheel can overcome the shortcomings of electroplated grinding wheel, and realize the chemical and metallurgical bonding of diamond, binder and metal matrix, with high bonding strength. Only maintaining the thickness of the bonding layer at 20% ~ 30% of the height of abrasive particles can firmly hold the abrasive particles in high-load high-speed grinding. The exposed height of abrasive particles of brazed grinding wheel can reach 70% ~ 80%, thus increasing the chip space, the grinding wheel is not easy to clog, and the utilization of abrasive materials is more full. Under the same processing conditions as electroplating grinding wheel, single-layer high-temperature brazed superhard abrasive wheel has lower grinding force, power loss and grinding temperature, which means that higher working speed can be achieved, which has special significance in the high-speed grinding of 300 ~ 500m/s.
Before brazing, the surface of the metal substrate should be deoxidized, and the diamond wheel and brazing filler metal should be deoiled and decontaminated. The melting point of the filler metal can be decreased and the fluidity and wettability of the filler metal can be improved by adding B and Si in the filler metal containing strong carbide forming element. Using powder filler metal, brazing under vacuum condition (or inert gas protection). The ordered arrangement of abrasives before brazing and the consistency of the thickness of the brazing filler metal are also very important to improve the uniformity of the thickness of the bonding layer after brazing. Reasonable and orderly arrangement of abrasives on grinding wheel working surface is always the goal of grinding tools industry, and it is expected to be realized on single layer superhard abrasive wheel.
