Problems encountered in the development of diamond tool industry in China

China's diamond tool industry has made rapid development in the past two decades. At the same time, we should also see the problems encountered in the development process.

(1) The independent innovation ability of manufacturing enterprises is not strong

The specific situation of the industry is that benchmarking enterprises that focus on independent innovation can develop some international high-end products, but the output is small, and it is difficult to meet the needs of domestic and foreign markets. The number of these enterprises is limited, which can represent the highest level in China, but it is difficult to represent the overall level of the industry. Most enterprises have problems with quality and efficiency, rising production and operation costs and insufficient innovation capacity. The task of "reducing production capacity" of some enterprises is more onerous. The backward production capacity has not been eliminated on a large scale. The development of diamond tool manufacturing enterprises is difficult to meet the diversified needs of domestic and foreign markets. At present, many high-end products used in emerging industries need to be vigorously developed to further expand the application of superhard materials and various products, which is a big test of the enterprise's R&D ability and innovation ability.

 

(2) Production technology needs to be further improved and take the road of specialization

Most diamond enterprises failed to complete the technical update in time due to capital and other problems, and failed to add new equipment and instruments. It is difficult to develop first-class products without advanced technology and equipment. The detection of raw materials and strict control of production process still need to be improved. As we all know, the profit of general products is low, and the profit of special products is high. In order to do a good job of special products and realize personalized and customized services, you must be familiar with the user's production process and be able to become an application guide expert. This is not something that can be quickly realized by general enterprises or individual teams. Although the degree of product specialization in China has improved in recent years, the task is still very heavy, which is also the only way for the transformation and upgrading of industry products.

 

(3) Improve product quality standards, especially improve inspection and detection capabilities

The diamond industry began to carry out standard research and put forward a draft since 1973. In 1979, the first industry standard, Artificial Diamond, was born, which opened the prelude to the formulation and revision of industry product standards. After more than 30 years of development, the current national and industrial standards for superhard materials and their products in China have reached 41, which has played a huge role in standardizing industry products and promoting industry development. However, with the development of industrialization in China, the superhard material industry has made continuous progress, and the application field of superhard material products has been continuously expanded. There are more and more superhard material product specifications, and many products have no standards to follow. In addition, there are many production enterprises in China, which directly leads to the confusion of the specifications of products sold on the market and the poor universality of products from different manufacturers. In addition, with the increasing variety of diamond products, higher requirements are put forward for our inspection and detection capabilities. Hubei Province has established a national diamond tool quality supervision and inspection center, gradually filling the gap of domestic authoritative diamond testing.
