Reflections on Industry Development from the 2026 Xiamen Stone Fair
(Observations from the 2026 Xiamen International Stone & Machinery Fair)
The 2026 Xiamen International Stone & Machinery Fair officially drew to a close yesterday. The exhibition showcased a wide array of related products, including raw stone materials, stone processing machinery, and stone tools. After touring the venue, I was left with many thoughts. By observing the scale of the exhibitors, the profile of visiting buyers, and the flow of foot traffic-and cross-referencing these observations with my experiences at previous fairs-it became evident that the three major sectors represented here-raw stone materials, stone processing machinery, and stone tools-are currently following distinct developmental trajectories and exhibiting unique characteristics.
1 The Stone Materials Sector:
The stone materials zone has historically been the "main force" of the Xiamen Stone Fair. The vast majority of booths were occupied by a dazzling array of raw stones and finished stone products-a truly spectacular sight that could leave a visitor feeling pleasantly overwhelmed. The stone merchants exhibiting in this section spared no effort; they employed every conceivable display technique to highlight their corporate strength and product quality, creating an atmosphere that appeared both incredibly lively and grand in scale.
However, beneath this outward bustle lies a sense of underlying helplessness within the stone industry. While the stone materials zone looked glamorous, the actual number of buyers visiting booths to browse or engage in business negotiations was relatively sparse-a stark contrast to the lively appearance of the booths themselves. This disparity precisely reflects the current predicament facing the stone industry: business is genuinely difficult. Many stone enterprises are struggling to stay afloat; even the industry's leading players face their own unique challenges, and times are tough for everyone. After all, this year saw decorative stone materials officially incorporated into the scope of key industries subject to national carbon market regulations. Consequently, enterprises now face mounting pressure from rising costs and the imperative for technological upgrades-signaling that the era of extensive, growth-at-all-costs development has come to an end.
2 Turning to the Stone Machinery Sector:
The stone machinery sector presents a completely different picture! In stark contrast to the relative quietness of the stone materials zone, the stone machinery exhibition area boasted a much larger number of exhibitors. The buyers visiting to make inquiries or inspect equipment appeared uniformly enthusiastic and full of anticipation, seemingly harboring a much greater sense of optimism and hope for the future.
This phenomenon is actually quite easy to understand. Given the current difficulties facing the stone materials sector, many enterprises are seeking to navigate these challenges and boost their competitiveness by upgrading their machinery and equipment-thereby increasing production efficiency and reducing operational costs. Moreover, judging by the current boom in the stone machinery sector, one can faintly sense that the "winter" of the broader stone industry may soon be drawing to a close. Everyone is quietly gathering strength, waiting for the industry to warm up and welcome the arrival of spring. After all, this year's exhibition featured the launch of numerous new stone machinery products, and the level of domestic manufacturing capability continues to rise-all of which serve as positive signals for the industry's future.
3 Finally, regarding the stone tools sector:
Overall, it remains dominated by traditional tool manufacturers. As I toured the exhibition, I observed that many exhibitors specializing in traditional stone processing tools are established factories with fifteen to twenty years of experience under their belts. The few "new faces" present were mostly companies specializing in brazed diamond tools, construction engineering tools, or other ancillary stone-related equipment. This observation reinforces the reality that the current stagnation in the broader stone industry has created a challenging environment for the development of the stone tools sector.
To briefly summarize the current status of these three major sectors:
- The stone industry and the stone tools sector are currently still in a "gathering momentum" phase, having not yet experienced a distinct upward surge. The stone machinery sector, however, appears to have caught a glimpse of a new dawn, and confidence among its participants is noticeably higher.
- Perhaps, driven by the upgrading and technological evolution of stone machinery, the stone industry and the stone tools sector will subsequently usher in their own new opportunities for growth.
For both myself personally and HuiceTools company, it is imperative-as practitioners in the diamond tools industry-that we continue to accumulate technical expertise, remain grounded in the present, keep our sights set on the future, and actively embrace new technologies and new avenues for development.
The above represents my personal reflections on the 2026 Xiamen Stone Fair-shared from the perspective of a professional with twenty years of experience in the manufacturing of stone tools and diamond tools.
